Updates on the Trebuchet

Well we began the build for the Trebuchet.
Not as easy as it seems.

One of the biggest problems is the Notches that have to be made at the ends of multiple boards.
For one we figures out that a 2x4 is not really a 2 inch by 4 inch by 8 foot board. it's more like 3 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches. In the end I'm not sure if the 1/2 inch may weaken some of the beams.

Also it is not so easy to cut out those pieces especially, since they are on the ends.
We will be using a table saw and having to be careful to not over cut. There may be a better power tool available to use; we simply don't have access to it.
It seems like a fairly simple design and thus should be fairly easy to assemble in reasonable time. Next week we plan on having some contests on assembly to see how fast people are. With color coding of the various sections it should go fairly quickly.

We also found/obtained a piece of pipe that would be used to build chain link fences. It is thin walled but sure seems to have strength. The other good part is is cost less then $20.
With an over all cost or around $100 each element can't be all that expensive.
We also found the bolt all have to be hex heads and not carriage bolts. Flush, flat laying parts are essential.

Stay tuned for more.
