Well today is the day they celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.
I guess you can say it has mutated to a bit more commercial then it used to be.
Since I'm not catholic and the whole saints thing is beyond me I really don't understand much of the reasoning. I think in today's world it is more about celebrating Ireland and it culture then anything else. There is the whole wear'in of the green (which I do not support), eating what is assumed to be traditional Irish fare (corn beef and cabbage which appears to be not be so traditional).
Why not be proud of your heritage every day of the week. You can leave the getting drunk down at the local pub part out though beer and drinking tunes are some of the best song around.
They are plain classic in my opinion. That and some of the rebel songs from folks like Wolfetones and the Clancy Brothers.
